The Watch House Café is now recruiting new staff members to join the team for the new season.
With the quality of food in West Bay consistently getting better, the Watch House Café is aiming to be at the forefront of this change whilst providing a comfortable, relaxed atmosphere for customers from every walk of life within the newly refurbished establishment. The Watch House Café is the younger sister to the ever successful Hive Beach Café and the management are looking for staff with a few simple skills to join our young, dynamic team.
Customer service skills: the ability to speak to customers and make them feel welcome whilst exceeding their expectations in regard to the service offered.
Initiative: staff who are able to use their own initiative and complete a job to high standard without always being shown. Going the extra mile for the customer and other staff members.
Time management: punctuality is essential and throughout the day different areas within the cafe will have a range of jobs to undertake and complete.
We are looking to create a team of people that are not only work colleges but become friends as we believe this makes for a more enjoyable work atmosphere for everyone involved. Although no previous experience or training is essential it is desirable and people who have a general interest in food and the hospitality sector would be preferred.
Formal qualification and training programmes will be arranged for candidates showing enthusiasm and aptitude.
Current positions available both full time and part time:-
Chefs – various positions. To assist the head chef in the day to day running of a busy cafe whilst helping to bring forward new ideas/recipes/concepts that will keep us ahead of competitors. Running the kitchen with other chefs whilst the head chef is off. A general interest and experience of local seafood is an advantage.
Kitchen Assistants – To control the rear of house areas whilst liaising with the kitchen staff to ensure a smooth service. duties include cleaning, washing up, packing away delivery’s and helping other members of the cafe staff.
Waiters – Taking food to customers and checking the tables and customer areas remain tidy at all times whilst continually ensuring customers are happy. Helping the kitchen assistants and ice cream scoopers during quiet periods.
Front of House Service – first contact with customers therefore a friendly, smiley appearance is essential with the ability to remember local customers and their requirements. you are the sales person within the cafe therefore you must be able to describe and verbally sell all the cafes products. other duties include taking food orders, hot and cold drink service (coffee service experience an advantage) liaising with kitchen about special requirements and using a modern till system whilst handling money.
Ice Cream Scoopers – ice cream service, helping all other areas of the cafe during quieter periods.
(being a small team means at certain times duties will vary to suit the needs of the cafe)
Wages are determined using an age related pay scheme however for more qualified full time staff wages are negotiable.
